November 24th

8 pm - All ages - $7-$11 sliding scale

Punk accordionist and world troubadour Jason Webley is performing at the Flood Gallery (in the Phil Mechanic Building) on November 24th with Vaudevie (featuring Valerie from the Hellblinki Sextet) and Cripps Puppets.

JASON WEBLEY:
Described by the Seattle Times as "one of Seattle's most talented musicians, " Jason Webley is known for his huge gravelly voice and a battered porkpie hat that dances around his head as he stomps out the beat. His relentless touring schedule and legendary live performances have built him a loyal cult of followers across North America, Europe and beyond (he is especially loved in Siberia.)

Many fans in Asheville will recognize him from three sold out shows he played with the Avett Brothers at the Orange Peel at the end of 2008.

Bellowing out apocalyptic dirges in a sandpaper baritone, Webley's specialty is involving his audience in his performances - most concerts end with the entire crowd locked arm-in-arm, singing at the top of their lungs. He has shared the stage with the Dresden Dolls, the Avett Brothers, Devotchka and Regina Spektor, and has released five solo albums and numerous collaborations on his own label, Eleven Records.

Recently, Webley finished a world tour with Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls as one-half of the duo Evelyn Evelyn.

VAUDEVIE:
Vaudevie is the solo side project of Valerie Hellblinki. Vaudevie delivers delightful and melancholic musings on circuses, spies, ill-fated lovers, drinking, and of course: the end of the world. These songs are rendered through her voice, accordion, bells, whistles, toys, toothy pianos, and sundry nick-knacks and devices, and whatever is available. She performs regularly with The Hellblinki Sextet from Asheville, NC, and solo with Asheville Vaudeville.

CRIPPS PUPPETS:
The night will be opened with the puppetry of Madison J. Cripps, a resident artist at Flood Gallery.
