Sonic Experience Series

The Sonic Experience Series is an ongoing series of musical performances by artists that have no real venue in Asheville. It is an exploration of the forms of live musical performance that engage thier audience through sheer aural intensity. The Gallery space, with its hard, concrete walls and floors and it's proximity to an active train yard, make it a less than perfect place to hear music, and yet, the space itself seems to lend an element of meaning to the music. Imagine Beethoven performed live with the sounds of engines loading and unloading cars in the background, A Brazilian jazz band using the concrete floor as an instrument, the hollow hum of a sitar reverberating off of the enormous walls: This is a Sonic Experience.
